Will Carleton Owner/Editor of PAN – Background:
I started life as a Press photographer in London covering spot news events working freelance and then directly through a photo agency. Then I worked in photo agency selling editorial photos to UK newspaper and magazine picture desks. Followed that up in a few stock photo libraries commissioning and editing editorial and stock photo shoots.
Now:
I offer sales and marketing advice to photo agencies and picture libraries. For photographers I cover frontline marketing to photo editors, how to get noticed, website presentation, what picture editors want…and don’t want! Once a photographer has taken on all these elements I then make personal introductions and recommendations to commissioning picture editors.

My work and interested in the industry is reflected through my industry news site PhotoArchiveNews.com which has been reporting news of photo agencies, photo libraries and editorial photographer news since 1999. The site is read by picture editors, picture researchers and the editorial & stock photo industry in general. My interest in press photography extends to a project I am doing to map the press photographers and agencies of Fleet Street, The Press Photo History Project which has just been listed by the British Museum where we are trawling through early listings of photo agencies from directories and magazines.
