PPY 2008 'Open'

'We're delighted to be able to let you know that the 2008 competition is officially ON!'

Firstly we must ask you to join us in thanking Canon for sponsoring the awards for the third year. Their unwavering commitment is refreshing and inspiring, and we are very greatful to them for their continued support. The Press Photographer's Year really wouldn't be possible without their commitment.

We will be accepting entries from Wednesday 5th March, and you will have until midnight on Monday 24th to complete them.

We have added four new categories in response to your requests. This includes a News Folio of the Year and Sports Folio of the Year; 10 picture sets that allow a photographer to demonstrate not only their talents, but also their consistancy, and a Multimedia category, which is designed to showcase the application of new technologies to your work.

You will be sent your unique login details on Wednesday, along with a set of the rules. Please take your time to study these, to familiarise yourself with categories, and the uploading procedure
