Matts entry captures Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney surrounded by six Reading players, as he attempts to create an opening with not a team mate in sight. The photograph was taken from the opening weekend of the 2007/08 Barclays Premier League season at Old Trafford.

The final judging panel comprised of Barclays Sponsorship Director Matt Appleby, Chairman of the Football Writers' Association Paul Hetherington, Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler and last year's winner, Ian Hodgson from the Daily Mail.
