A host of UK magazine editors including a number from IPC Media nominated their favourite iconic covers to form a long list for the Great Cover Debate. Two months ago, a panel of expert judges, sifted through 11 decades of famous magazine covers to decide on a final shortlist of 16, and now the poll is open to a public vote.

We had, in one fell swoop done that magical thing that magazines can do, which is create an international, cultural event."
Loaded's classic Kevin Keegan cover from April 1996 was nominated as one of the great 'poster' covers that put Loaded at the heart of the mid-90s men's mag explosion. Current Loaded editor Martin Daubney says: It embodies the spirit of Loaded if you won't make a joke, we'll do it for you it's a stroke of genius.
IPC Ignite managing director Eric Fuller adds: I'm delighted that the outstanding quality of our creative teams has once again been recognised. Both Ignite covers on the shortlist embody the unique spirit of each magazine, and they deserve their place in such esteemed company.
A host of IPC Media editors have also provided written and video citations for their own favourites to make the shortlist including Conor McNicholas - NME, Martin Daubney - Loaded, Andy Cowles editorial director, Guy Woodward - Decanter, Louise White - Hair, Ali Hall - Look and Catherine Westwood - Wedding.
