The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering fast, unbiased news to all media platforms and formats. Founded in 1846, AP is the largest and most trusted source of independent news and information. On any given day, more than half the world’s population sees news from AP.
The London Desk photo editor’s primary responsibilities are the intake and processing of news, sports, business and entertainment photos, filed by photographers in Europe, Africa and other parts of the world, reviewing and editing the photos for picture quality and caption accuracy, for transmission to AP Web, print and broadcast customers worldwide.

Both picture judgment and news judgment are the twin paramount requirements for this position.

London photo editors are required to be as familiar with the top news stories of the day as they are with the basic elements that make a good photograph.

London photo editors provide timely and constructive feedback to photographers and editors in the field with regards to successful or missing coverage elements, often under the pressures of breaking news and imminent customer deadlines.

London photo editors work with colleagues across all AP formats, communicating regularly with editors from text, video and interactive departments, and providing constant updates on our best work throughout the newsroom.
